May Update

Our goal is to get one of these newsletters out once a month and gosh here it is the end of April already and some of you will expecting the second offering.

May is Brain Cancer Awareness month and you  are encouraged to wear grey. Unfortunately every day 27 people in Canada will be told they have a brain tumour and 8 of those people will be told that their tumour is cancerous. These awful numbers, that once included Julia, are why we support Brain Cancer Canada.  Here is a comment from Angela Scalisi, the chair of BCC. She was referring to the funds we raised at our golf tournament last year.

Funds raised from your event will be directed to University of Toronto’s Dr. Leonardo Salmena, for his work on Exploring microRNA as Targets for GBM, which is making a significant impact in the fight against brain cancer

We are glad to be helping in our own small way to fight this awful scourge..

Let’s not forget our Jaunting for Julia endeavour.  You are encouraged to get out in nature away from the madding crowd and relax. Run, walk or simply sit and enjoy the sun. We are sure it will be coming soon! When you are out there we want you to think about Julia and ponder on a small donation to JCMF. Without your help we would not have been able to give to Brain Cancer Canada.

Why not organise a small group walk or run or bike ride or even a coffee morning among your friends in Julia’s name and ask them to donate to the JCMF.

Last month we mentioned the Algonquin Wildlife Research Station and the fact that you donated $2000.00 to their cause. Here is what they said:

We are so grateful for the generous gift you have made to the AWRS. Our small organization relies on the generosity of people who value wildlife to help us support research and experimental learning for the next generation of wildlife professionals.

Never forget your contributions to the JCMF are making a different in many areas from wildlife to food banks and lots of causes in between.

If you have a special charity or organization that you feel needs our support just drop us a line and let us know.

Thank you all again for your generous support and we wish everyone a very pleasant Mother’s Day
